Genesis Framework and StudioPress Themes Now Available for WP Engine Customers
It’s official! Beginning today, access to the Genesis Framework and 35 premium, WordPress StudioPress Themes are included in your plan for free when you sign up for a WP Engine account.
Both the themes and theme framework, which WP Engine began adding to its platform after acquiring StudioPress in June, are also available to existing customers, who can access them through their User Portal. If you’re on one of our Personal, Professional or Business plans, you can convert to one of to one of our new Startup, Growth or Scale plans for immediate access.
The Genesis Framework is the world’s most popular WordPress theme framework. It’s served as the foundation for more than 1 million WordPress sites and combines the ability to create excellent design, layouts, and SEO with interoperability, modularity and performance. Genesis also offers users the ability to safely and easily update and switch between themes at scale, and incorporate new technologies more simply.
The suite of StudioPress Themes, all built using the Genesis Framework, are professionally designed, mobile-responsive themes that look great right out of the box, making it easy for WP Engine customers to create faster, more attractive digital experiences.
At WP Engine, we’re passionate about creating new possibilities for our customers and the broader WordPress open source communities. By offering the themes and framework in our platform, we’re enhancing customers’ ability to build beautiful and powerful websites, while also expanding the reach of the open source Genesis Framework and the amazing community that has contributed to its growth.
“We’re always looking for ways to deliver more value to our customers, and having access to themes which would normally cost them more than $400 to get, is a tangible example of delivering more value,” said WP Engine Founder and CTO Jason Cohen.
“Both the themes and the framework hold immense value on their own, and when combined with our digital experience platform, they enhance our ability to help customers win online and build more complex, beautiful digital experiences.”
StudioPress Co-founder Brian Gardner, who joined WP Engine as a product development leader and evangelist, echoed Cohen’s sentiments, adding that his vision for StudioPress was to provide a quick and easy way to build stand-out themes for all WordPress users.
“When we began building StudioPress, the hope was that these themes would reach across the WordPress ecosystem,” Gardner said. “Encouraging WP Engine customers to put them to use advances that goal.”
Among the themes made available today are some of StudioPress’ most popular, including:
Enterprise Pro Theme
Though WordPress began as a blogging platform, it has grown to be able to power enterprise sites. Enterprise Pro will give you the look of an incredibly high-ranking, professional site. Easily display your company information, blog and more all on the first page. This clean theme makes sure your information shines.
News Pro Theme
Countless publications such as Wired and the New York Times live on WordPress. The News Pro Theme gives you the look and feel of a full-featured publication. Display featured stories, article snippets and different categories. The theme even includes built-in ad space so you don’t have to account for it. News Pro gives you all the tools needed to run a high-quality news site.
Outfitter Pro Theme
WordPress is capable of powering strong eCommerce sites. You can run your entire business with the help of the Outfitter Pro Theme. This theme puts the focus directly on your products. With a brief description of your company at the top, the rest of the page is dedicated to showcasing what you’re selling. With no distractions, customers will be drawn to the products and will hopefully buy more.
Essence Pro Theme
If you’re looking to run a lifestyle or health and wellness blog, look no further than the Essence Pro Theme. This simple theme eliminates clutter allowing your blog posts and products to shine. Draw the eye right to what’s important with a beautiful photo and headline at the top. Then display a few featured posts. With Essence Pro, your readers will be able to focus on what’s really important.

[…] Nice! Starting this week, WP Engine customers now have access to the Genesis Framework and 35 premium WordPress StudioPress themes for free. […]
This is awesome. Super excited about this.
Amazing themes!!!
I understand that we can convert to a different plan, but will you be rolling this out to existing plans (without the need to migrate)?
Hey James. You’ll need to be on one of the new plan types to get Genesis + themes for free; however, unless you’re on a pre-paid yearly account, you should be on the new account type by the end of September at the latest.
OK, What about us long-time StudioPress members, will we still have access through our StudioPress account?
Hey Jeff. You’ll still have access to any StudioPress theme(s) you’ve purchased in the past through your my.studiopress.com customer portal.
Excellent news! I’ve been a Genesis framework vocalist since early 2014. With this integration, I will be tempted to use WP Engine for hosting moving forward.
