This edition of Meet the Experts highlights a team member dedicated to the growth and health of our agency customers. Chandler Pickett, an Agency Account Manager based in Orlando, spends his days helping agencies find the right tools and strategies to meet their goals.

Say hello to Chandler

Chandler Pickett is an Agency Account Manager at WP Engine. It’s a role that allows him to support agency customers as they scale, try new products, and bring new client sites onto our platform. 

Outside of his work with agencies, Chandler is a man of many interests. A lifelong learner, he finds joy in picking up new skills. “Knowledge really is power to me,” he says. 

That curiosity shows up in the diversity of his hobbies. He stays active through sports like golf, basketball, and football, but he’s just as passionate about sewing, using his Cricut press to design clothing, and 3D printing.

He’s also got a couple of tricks up his sleeve. Specifically, party tricks. “I can juggle, which is a fun ice breaker at a party,” he jokes. 

When he needs to unwind, Chandler tends to pick up a book or turn on a podcast. Living in Orlando, he also enjoys close proximity to several local theme parks and beaches.

Chandler’s career journey

Before joining WP Engine, Chandler spent more than eight years in various customer-facing retail management roles. A referral from an employee led him to WP Engine, where he started as a business development representative.  

In his current role, he still enjoys the customer-facing aspects of the job, but he also dedicates much of his time to learning about the technical side of our platform.

“I’ve focused on truly understanding our products, learning what the best options are for each specific customer’s needs, and knowing the ins and outs of all of our solutions,” he explains. 

“My primary focus is to help agencies grow on our platform, so I have to keep learning myself if I’m going to ensure an agency’s success as they continue to need more resources or products we can provide.” 

His love of learning helps him stay ahead of the curve and makes him a valuable resource for agencies looking to bring client sites to market faster than ever before.

“I’ve always loved building things, and I want to get the best understanding of what my agencies do on a daily basis,” he says. 

“So, I took my real-life building obsession and put it into the digital world. When I started to build websites and even a video game, it became easier to provide information based on the knowledge that I have learned over my time here.”

Words of Wisdom: Trust grows from transparency 

The core of Chandler’s professional philosophy is simple: be direct. He believes that honesty is the only way to build relationships that last.

“Be direct, don’t add fluff,” he advises. “Being honest is the best thing that you can do to help customers, even if it isn’t what they want to hear. Once they trust your honesty, that’s a relationship that can thrive.”

This commitment to transparency and communication helps Chandler overcome a common hurdle facing agencies: only hearing from their hosting provider when there’s a problem. He views hosting as a partnership rather than a transaction, and wants agencies to feel supported as they invest in their growth on our platform.

“I focus on being proactive, celebrating their growth, and engaging with them regarding all the great work that they are creating,” he explains. “For web agencies, hosting is one of the most important relationships they have, so I try to make sure that my customers feel that they have a true partner in me.”
